“Don’t rely on someone else for your happiness and self-worth. Only you can be responsible for that. If you can’t love and respect yourself – no one else will be able to make that happen. Accept who you are – completely; the good and the bad – and make changes as YOU see fit – not because you think someone else wants you to be different.”
– Stacey Charter
I wanted to share this quote about self-love because I think it’s something a lot of us struggled with at some point in our lives. If you ever find yourself changing the person you are, your morals, your interests, your appearance, etc. solely for the approval of other(s), you’ll never be happy. You’ll eventually become someone you don’t even know. A stranger to your own soul. “Make changes as YOU see fit”. Too many people overvalue what they are not and undervalue what they are.
For some reason, as I starred across the ocean today, the word self love popped up in my head. I started thinking about how I could somehow inspire my audience or people who may have or are struggling with self love. I know at some point, that was something I struggled with and it was quite a process! There is so much one could say on " how to" however it really starts with you... the willingness.. the motivation.. the dedication. So hopefully in some way, if you read the quote above, I hope it encouraged you in some way.
There’s something about the beach that is so calming and relaxing to the soul. It’s my happy place. It’s quite ironic actually because although I love the beach and the sound of the waves, I’m actually afraid of the ocean (to make the long story short, I had a near death experience as a child Lol). Does that stop me from doing water activities? It definitely does not haha! Anyways, I love going to the beach to either lay out and read, find inspiration, people watch (don’t pretend you don’t people watch too lol), and most importantly, reflect. What's your happy place?
My must haves that I take to the beach are:
